COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference announced the 2015 Preseason Football Coaches' Poll on Wednesday afternoon, and the Union College football team comes in fifth in the Eastern Division of the rankings.

Leading the Eastern Division in the poll is Georgetown (Ky.), who garnered 25 points in the ranking and five of six first place votes. Pikeville (Ky.) comes in second in the ranking with 18 total points, while Cumberlands (Ky.) is in third with 14 points and one first place vote.

Kentucky Christian follows Cumberlands in the poll in fourth with 14 points, followed by the Bulldogs in fifth with 12 total points. Bluefield (Va.) rounds out the ranking in the Eastern Division with seven total points. On the other side of the Mid-South, Campbellsville (Ky.) and Reinhardt (Ga.) shared the top spot in the Western Division with 21 total points and two first place votes, each.

Union, who opens 2015 preseason camp this week, will come into the year off a 1-9 campaign in 2014 (1-4 in the Mid-South). Led by second year head coach Zak Willis, the Bulldogs return several standouts from last years team, including junior quarterback Chandler Whittlesey (JR/Columbus, Ga.) and senior linebacker Jake Johnston (SR/Melbourne, Ky.) (an All-Mid-South selection  in 2014).

The Bulldogs open their 2015 season on September 5th at Williamson Stadium on the Union campus, hosting Warner (Fla.) in an out-of-conference match-up.
