BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University football team was selected to finish in third place in the Southern Division of the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced today by the Heart coaches at the 2015 Heart Football Media Day inside the Holiday Inn Express in Olathe, Kansas.

The Wildcats earned 43 votes and one first place vote and are picked to finish behind first place MNU (49 votes) and second place Missouri Valley (46 votes).

This will mark the first season that the Heart will be broken up into two divisions the Northern and Southern.

New member Grand View was selected to win the Northern Division, while rival Benedictine was selected in second place.

Baker went 8-3 a year ago and ended the year ranked No. 16 in the final NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll. Baker has posted eight-straight winning seasons and is 105-78 since the 1998 season.

BU opens up the season at No. 6 ranked Grand View on Saturday, Aug. 29 in Des Moines, Iowa at 11 a.m. in the Vikings’ first-ever Heart of America Athletic Conference game in school history.

The game will be broadcast on KSMO-TV in Kansas City on worldwide on ESPN 3 via Niles Media.
