Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference held their annual Football Media Day on August 7th in Wichita, Kansas.  Following speeches by each of the 10 head coaches, there was a Coaches Poll and a Media Poll.  McPherson College was ranked eighth by the coaches and 10th by the media.  The KCAC coaches picked Ottawa as this year's front runner while the media tabbed Friends the preseason favorite.

Mac brings back just 25 players from the 2014 roster but have added nearly 60 for this season.  Among the key offensive returners are Ste'fon Walker, Calon Bibbs, Michael Ramos, Collin French, and Jaelon Barnes.  Walker and Ramos are wide receivers for the MC offense while Bibbs, French, and Barnes are part of one of the best offensive lines in the KCAC.

Will Thacker and John Lauts are two standout offensive linemen from 2014 that are not back this year due to graduation.  The 'Dogs will also be missing the services of running back Terrance Jones as he graduated this past May as well.

"I'm very excited to see how these young players fall into their roles," continued Mierkiewicz.  "We have a lot of talent and it's going to be fun to watch them grow into our system."

Defensively, McPherson will be young.  Leading the list of returners are Dalton Whitfield, Kavoderic McIntyre, Bradley Campbell, Isaiah Watkins, and Durrell Parker.  McIntyre is the lone returning defensive back, Whitfield and Campbell are a pair of linebackers for Mac while Watkins and Parker look to anchor the line.

The Bulldogs will miss USA College Football's First Team All-American Jimmy Wilson; the former defensive end/linebacker is McPherson's new defensive line coach.  Other key losses for the defense are Trent Forrester and Grant Narcisse.

"We have a few shoes to fill this year but I'm confident that our players will step up and fill those voids left by our seniors."

MC has 10 games on their schedule for 2015 and the year kicks off with Doane College of Nebraska for the KCAC-GPAC Challenge on September 5th; start time is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT) in McPherson.  Following a bye week on September 12th, the 'Dogs will take on the nine conference schools the next nine weeks.  Homecoming is slated for October 10th against Ottawa University.

"We are going to be very young," said Coach Mierkiewicz, "but we will strive to get better every day.  The entire coaching staff is excited to get the season started, it's a great time of the year."
