WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference held its annual football media day Friday, August 7 at the Hotel at Old Town in Wichita, Kan. All 10 football coaches from theKCAC spent time at the podium discussing each teams' improvements and challenges for the upcoming 2015 season.

Health, depth, and team chemistry are what Head Coach Mike Gardner talked about as keys to the Bluejays KCAC title hopes.

"Chemistry, fundamentals, and humility are what I am looking for this year more than anything," said Gardner. "Our ability and talent need to continue to be about team success. If we do that than individual goals can happen."

Tabor will look to regain last year's early season form that saw the Bluejays begin the year 4-0, and climb as high as No. 3 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, the highest ranking in the schools history. In order to do that Tabor will lean heavily on 16 returning starters (7-on defense, 9-on offense) as well as 57 lettermen to help bring experience and build chemistry with a talented incoming recruiting class.

Along with experience the Bluejays roster also features leadership and an emphasis on winning, as 34 former captains and a wide variety of players from winning programs make up this years squad.

One major key on the offensive side of the ball will be the return of senior quarterback Simon McKee who suffered a season ending injury in the Bluejays second game of the year last season.

Ottawa University was pegged to finish first in the conference earning eight of the 10 first-place votes in the coaches' poll, while the Bluejays and Friends University tied for first in the media poll. The Falcons however earned the edge thanks to nine first place votes to the Bluejays six.

Tabor will open the 2015 season on the road against the Scots of Lyon College, Saturday Aug. 29 in Batesville, Ark. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The Bluejays will return home the following weekend for their home opener as they take on nationally ranked No. 13 Northwestern College out of Orange City, Iowa as part of the KCAC vs GPAC Challenge. The game is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 5, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
