A few days removed from a third place selection by the Great Plains Athletics Conference (GPAC) Coaches for this year's conference title race, the Doane football team has learned they will start the 2015 season rated in the NAIA Top 25.  The Tigers will open the season tied with Tabor College for 22nd.  Doane ended last year ranked No. 22.

The Tigers are coming off a 7-3 season and 7-2 mark in the GPAC in 2014.  Two of the three losses from last year came against teams in the Preseason NAIA Top 25: Northwestern at No. 12 and Friends at No. 21.  Doane's lone win in the Top 25 came against then-No. 1 Morningside who will begin the season ranked No. 3.

Doane opens camp on Tuesday morning following meetings on Monday evening.  They expect to return seven starters on offense and nine on defense as they open the season on September 5 at McPherson College as part of the GPAC-KCAC Challenge.  Kick-off is set for 7 PM.

Other match-ups for the GPAC-KCAC weekend involving Top 25 teams are:
Dakota Wesleyan at (14) Ottawa
(3) Morningside at (RV) Sterling
Nebraska Wesleyan at (21) Friends
(12) Northwestern at (T22) Tabor
